Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the spec details and official photos of its new generation Mercedes R-Class.
The new 2011 R-Class UK model range boasts an array of enhancements including a new exterior design, revamped interior and Mercedes’ famous all-wheel drive.
A new range of engines have also been introduced boasting improved fuel economy and extra power.
Stunning new design
The new generation R-Class features a completely redesigned front section which gives the vehicle a new, self-assured appearance. The vehicle’s wings, radiator grille, headlamps and bumpers have all been significantly redesigned along with the introduction of wider, horizontally structured bonnet to create a more dynamic and powerful stance.
Complimenting its new exterior design, the 2011 R-Class is available with alloy wheels in 5-spoke, 5-twin spoke or 10-spoke designs. A new “diamond white” paint finish has also been introduced for extra refinement.
Enhanced luxury interior
In addition to the fresh exterior, the new generation R-Class receives a number of distinctive interior enhancements. Partially power-adjustable seats for driver and front passenger now come as standard on the luxury saloon whilst optional extras such as the panoramic glass roof and luxurious "Aspen" fabric can be added to create a more spacious feeling.
Improvements has also been made to the boot of the R-Class, now boasting up to 1950 litres in the standard-wheelbase version and 2385 litres in the long-wheelbase version. An optional EASY PACK tailgate can also be added which, when operated by a switch or key, makes access to the luggage compartment easier than ever.
Engine line-up
The UK model range consists of two engine variants: the R 300 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY 2WD and the R 350 CDI L 4MATIC. The R 300 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY boasts a fuel consumption figure of 37.2mpg, requiring around 7% less fuel than its predecessor without compromising on power or performance. The new R 350 CDI 4MATIC also boasts impressive figures, combining the high performance of a V8 model with the low fuel consumption of an economical V6. It consumes just 33.2mpg of diesel, undercutting its predecessor by 2.8mpg. The V6 diesel engine also now boasts 265 hp as well as torque of 620 Nm.
Luxury at standard
Standard equipment on the new R-Class 2011 includes 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission, heated and electrically adjustable exterior mirrors, headlamp assist, privacy glass, automatic climate control, cruise control with SPEEDTRONIC and central display in 3-D instrument cluster.
The new generation Mercedes R-Class makes its world debut at the New York International Auto Show on 31st March 2010 with UK deliveries beginning in September.

There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
