Thirteen years after the release of the Prius, Toyota has chosen the UK as its manufacturing base for the production of the new Auris Hybrid; the first hybrid vehicle to be built in Europe.
It will combine the popular design of the original five-door hatchback model with the very latest in Hybrid technology, so that for the first time ever, you can drop your kids off at school safely and do your bit for the planet.
Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive technology was designed to solve the problem of efficiency in cars with low CO2 emissions. It uses two power sources, and combines an electric motor with the efficiency of a petrol engine, so that unlike most eco-friendly cars, it drives well at higher speeds. So no need to worry about Jeremy Clarkson-style cracks about slow electric cars.
The driver can also choose to drive in ECO mode, which further reduces the car’s CO2 emissions. This technology has won many motoring awards since the Prius, and now powers over 2.3 million vehicles globally.
Now, with the Auris Hybrid, Toyota have produced a family car which is equipped with this incredibly advanced energy-saving technology. The two electric motors will work with the 1.8 litre VVT-I petrol engine to deliver on speed and efficiency. The low emissions and fantastic fuel economy, beginning at 74.3mpg, will also make the car more cost-efficient to own. The design is enhanced by a number of features, including alloy wheels, grille, bumper, LED daytime running lights, seat trim and eco driving display and transmission.
The Toyota Auris Hybrid will premiere this summer.

There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
