VW launches Golf Estate

VW launches Golf Estate

Volkswagen launched the new Golf Estate this week with prices starting at £16,380 for the entry-level 1.2-litre S model.

Based on the Mk VI hatchback's styling, the Estate gets a body-coloured rear bumper, new wheel designs and modified tail-lights. Inside, the dashboard and upholstery have been given a fresh look.

Greener range
A new Bluemotion Technology variant will be available throughout the S, SE and Sportline trim levels.

The low-CO2 Bluemotion Technology version differs from the original 'Bluemotion' label, which is reserved for the very greenest models and it is expected that the Bluemotion Technology label will be applied across VW's entire line-up in future.

Bluemotion Technology
Available with the 104bhp 1.6-litre diesel engine, the Golf Estate Bluemotion Technology model covers an impressive 67.3mpg on average and emits 109g/km of CO2. The low emissions mean road tax bills of £35 per year at current rates.

Changes to the standard vehicle include low-friction tyres, battery regeneration, a gearchange indicator to optimise fuel consumption, and an engine stop-start system.

Overall fuel economy should be improved by around 7%, and emissions lowered by 8%. Bluemotion Technology models will cost £410 more than the standard car.

Engine choices
Two petrol and three diesel engines will be available in the Golf Estate. At launch, the options include Volkswagen's existing 120bhp 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine and 104bhp 1.6 and 138bhp 2.0-litre diesels. Next spring, two new engines join the line up: the 104bhp 1.2-litre turbo petrol and 89bhp 1.6 diesel.

Various gearboxes will be on offer, including the seven-speed DSG semi-automatic. Prices rise to £22,580 for the 2.0-litre TDI Sportline with the DSG 'box.

Car Leasing vs Buying

Car Leasing Video DemoThere are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.

Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
