Audi has made another move toward reducing emissions associated with the manufacturing of its cars...
The brand is now using a train powered by green electricity to transport its newly-produced vehicles from the production lines to the docks, ready to be shipped.
German company Audi will be using its transport trains, powered with electricity from renewable energy sources, to transport its cars from Audi headquarters in Inglostadt to Emden, the North Sea landing port. The Inglostadt-Emden line is the brand’s most important transport route: every day three trains loaded with Audi models travel it. A total of roughly 150,000 Audi cars a year are transported to Emden, the hub of overseas exports.
Using these trains will allow Audi to eliminate the emission of around 5,250 tons of CO2 per year; over 35 kilograms per car transported.
The trains complement Audi’s efforts to establish a range of energy-efficient cars. Their current range consists of 53 engine and transmission variants with emissions of 140g/km CO2 or less. Of these, 19 versions have achieved emissions of less than 120g/km and three of them under 100g/km.

There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
