German premium car manufacturer, BMW, land the Greenest Manufacturer of the Year award for 2009.
The award comes as part of the Green-car-guide.com annual 2009 awards, which are highly regarded amongst the manufacturers.
Green car guide is one of the longest established green car websites and holds great prestige with BMW winning this award for the second time in the last three years.
The judges were impressed once again by the incredible fuel saving technology within the EfficientDynamics range. They were also pleased to see how they have rolled it out across the whole range rather than just having a few token green models within the range.
Paul Clarke, Founder and Managing Editor of Green-Car-Guide.com, said:
“The focus of our award is on best-in-class low emission cars that should also be great to drive and the BMW Group offers an ideal range of vehicles to meet the criteria. It is a worthy winner as it has also achieved all of this without demanding a surcharge of its customers for the measures.” Stephen Chater, Corporate Sales Manager, said:
“85 per cent of the energy used in a car’s lifetime is in the fuel it consumes so BMW Group’s class-leading advances in overall engine performance are of huge benefit to owners. We won a plethora of green awards in 2009 and hope to continue this trend with the launch this year of innovative products such as the BMW 320d EfficientDynamics Saloon with its 109g/km CO2 emissions and 68.9mpg combined consumption figures.”
After the global recession hit the future of many car companies looked shaky to say the least. Financial experts, Dow Jones, rated BMW the most sustainable car company in the world for the fifth year in a row in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index.

There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
