The new Volkswagen Golf boasts about its fuel efficiency with a bold holiday challenge.

Volkswagen releases the new edition to the Volkswagen Golf line up, the Volkswagen Golf Plus BlueMotion. This is the eco-friendly version of the car that is making some bold claims about its fuel efficiency.

This new Golf is features the German manufacturers 103 bhp engine so its certainly not shy like some of the eco models that only offer double figures. Generated from a 1.6-litre common rail TDI powerunit this engine emits only 114 g/km of CO2.

Volkswagen claims that his is an 11% and 10% improvement in economy and efficiency respectively. It features all the new features of an eco car such as low rolling resistance tyres, stop/start function and regenerative braking to name a few. But it is the claims they are making that grab people's attention.

Based on their calculations you can pick up a Volkswagen Golf Plus BlueMotion in London and drive it all the way to the beautiful Lake District. There you can enjoy 200 miles of activities such as climbing Scafell Pike, boating on Windermere or soaking it up in Sellafield Visitors Centre. After your holiday you can drive back to London having only filled up once before you left.

They also calculate that the average Golf Plus driver does 8,000 miles per year and in that case only need to fill up once every five weeks.

With prices starting at £17,570 for the lower of the two trim levels, S and £18,920 for the SE you could make your money back on this one in no time. Expect to see them in showrooms around October.

Car Leasing vs Buying

Car Leasing Video DemoThere are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.

Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
