BMW have released details of it’s new Mini E electric car which will take the Mini’s green credentials to a new level. BMW claim the mini E will be powered by a rechargeable lithium ion battery produced a remarkable 204bhp. Completely silent and emission free the cars operational range will be up to 150 miles.
The battery will be rechargeable from any household electrical supply although one downside is that to accommodate the battery the rear seats will be removed.
Expected to arrive in 2010 as a trial project BMW intend to offer 500 minis to corporate customers within a select number of US Cities to expose the car to the rigours of daily traffic and driving conditions. After 12 months BMW will take the vehicle back for a full evaluation and further testing before putting the electric mini in full production. A similar trial may be set up in Europe but is subject to confirmation.

There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
