BMW show off their new electric vehicle program set to revolutionise green car motoring like EfficientDyamics.
Punters got to see the tangible future of green car motoring this year at Detroit with a special performance from the new BMW stand. The German company brought along the new Concept ActiveE – a full on electric car set in the BMW 1 Series.
Powered by Lithium-Ion batteries and a smart new electric motor giving out 170 bhp mounted, as standard in BMWs, at the rear.
They are also making bold predictions about its range stating that they expect around 150 miles of range, however in recent tests from other manufacturers we have seen these type of predictions shattered.
The jury remains out, but not for long as reports suggest there may be a fleet of test cars on their way to major cities near soon.
Even with bulky batteries and new motor orientations BMW have still got the 50/50 weight distribution sorted but each 50 is much heavier as this model comes in at 3,900 lbs.
BMW really took the mantel with the new trend for more economical technology and pushed boundaries in that field. The EfficientDynamics range really pushed forward a lot of technologies we see almost common place in today’s motors cars and their electric range is shaping up to be similar.
They are by no means the only ones working hard to perfect a fleet of new electric cars but they are leading many. We eagerly await real world tests of this model.

There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
