Research suggests that the people of America are becoming more ethical and living sustainably.
New research shows that America is all aboard the green train with one in four adults in the U.S. living more sustainable lifestyles; interested in companies that are more socially responsible; and buying products that are healthier for people and the planet.
Ford is responding to this new breed of liberal American by offering the options they want. Alan Mulally, Ford CEO is dedicated to this new concept commenting,
“Ford is committed to offering customers affordable, environmentally-friendly technologies in vehicles they really want. We are focused on providing solutions that can be used not for hundreds or thousands of cars, but for millions of cars because that is how Ford truly can make a difference.”
The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) recently announced that Ford have produced over 1.75 million powertrains in the UK alone with many features such as the EcoBoost, hybrid technologies and battery electric vehicle interiors.
Other aspects of greener driving include suede-like material created from recycled plastic pop bottles and seat fabrics – made with 100 percent post-consumer yarns for interiors. Carol Kordich, Designer/Ford Corporate Design describes the progress being made,
“When we consider incorporating a sustainable material into an interior, we have to be sure that it supports the brand, that it can be manufactured in such a way that conserves energy, natural resources and reduces CO2 emissions, and, most importantly, that it provides the appearance, quality and durability that our customers expect.”
Ford designers and researchers will share where the company is headed in terms of how the use of more bio-based, recycled and reclaimed materials for vehicle interior applications can create the quality product consumers demand while reducing Ford’s carbon footprint at the 2009 Ward’s Auto Interior Conference in Dearborn on May 21.
“Wherever petroleum-based materials exist – in plastic, rubber, foam, film or fabric – we are looking to minimize its proportion and replace it with a sustainable material,” Dr. Cynthia Flanigan, Technical Expert/ Ford Plastics Research.

There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
