Vauxhall’s green car range, called ecoFLEX, has hit record sales results in the year of 2009.
The low emission range from Vauxhall has hit record sales in 2009 making it one of the most successful new green car ranges of all UK competitors.
Vauxhall sold nearly 12,300 new ecoFLEX vehicles were registered to fleet customers across the UK representing 26 per cent of Vauxhall’s fleet diesel sales and 9 per cent of the total 2009 Vauxhall fleet sales. Clocking up more than 40% of sales in the ecoFLEX range was the new Vauxhall Corsa ecoFLEX offering under 119 g/km.
This Vauxhall Corsa 1.3 CDTi ecoFLEX has sold more than three times as many as its nearest competitor. Variants of the Vauxhall Astra picked up second and third place in the list with the brilliant new Vauxhall Insignia ecoFLEX hatchback coming close fourth.
Paul Adler, Brand Manager Vauxhall Fleet commented,
“Vauxhall are committed to delivering on the twin pillars of reducing CO2 emissions and improving fuel economy to bring true savings to fleet decision makers and company car drivers alike. The ecoFLEX range makes it easy for business car buyers to be ‘green’ as well as save money. And with more Vauxhall ecoFLEX models to come, we believe 2010 will see even greater growth.”
Sales have risen due to the fantastic savings that can be made buying a green car like these. Particularly when it comes to commercial vehicle leasing for fleet cars these green cars qualify for the Capital Allowance regime, which allows fleet managers to write down 20 per cent of the car's cost, and offset 100 per cent of the lease payments against tax.
Savings on fuel are another benefit with ecoFLEX, the Astra 5dr Hatchback and Insignia 5dr Hatchback models show on average between 11 and 12 per cent improvement in combined fuel economy when compared to the standard equivalent, which means that each vehicle is able to travel over 50 miles further on a single tank of fuel.
Vauxhall now offer over 50 different ecoFLEX models to support businesses and drivers, one of the largest ranges of environmental models in the UK and plans to expand the range further.

There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
