The 4007 was launched in 2007, it is Peugeot's first ever 4x4 SUV model. The 4007 chassis is based on the well established and competent offroader the Mitsubishi Outlander. This highly practical vehicle can be fitted with a third row of seats meaning it can seat seven people. The versatile interior includes an adaptable middle row with individually adjustable seats that can slide and tilt as well as fold completely level with the boot floor. The 4007 can be driven in three different driving modes depending on the driving conditions. The standard 4WD mode allows the driver to opt for more offroad capabilty, while the 2WD mode provides better fuel economy. The 4WD lock mode offers even more grip and locks torque distribution with more going to the rear wheels. Other rivals in this category include the Nissan X-Trail, Land Rover Freelander and Toyota RAV4.
The 4007 is currently only available with one engine variant; the highly capable 2.2 litre HDI turbo diesel engine. It develops around 156 bhp and an impressive 380Nm torque at just 2000 rpm. All models are fitted with 4x4 transmissions and a six-speed manual gearbox.
Trim levels start with the SE model which now features the Irmscher sport styling kit as standard – 19in alloys, front and rear spoilers and twin exhaust. Also included are automatic climate control, mp3 audio equipment & optional Bluetooth handsfree phone kit. The top-spec GT model adds rear parking sensors, 6-cd autochanger, heated driver’s seat, automatic headlights and much more.
