The Scenic range was first launched in 1997 and in doing so Renault created a whole new market of compact MPV's which many manufacturers have now copied. The Scenic was a surprise success for Renault, selling many more than estimated and winning the European Car of the Year award for 1996. The second generation was launched in 2003 and uses all of Renaults MPV experience to keep it ahead of rivals like the Mazda 5, Volkswagen Touran and Citroen C4 Picasso. The Grand Scenic seats up to seven people and has a longer wheelbase and more interior space than the standard Scenic. The novel electric handbrake mounted on the dash allows the Grand Scenic to have a practical flat floor, it versatility doesn't end there as it is packed with clever storage solutions throughout. It can even be fitted with an optional folding rear screen for easy access to the boot. It is one of the safest vehicles in its class and has achieved a five-star Euro NCAP rating.
The Grand Scenic has two petrol engine options, the 1.6 VVT with 111 PS or the 2.0 litre VVT with 136 PS. The range of common rail turbo engines starts with the 1.5 dCi with 106 PS, then the 1.9 dCi 130PS and top of the range 2.0 dCi 150PS. Transmission options include the five or six-speed manual, or the four-speed automatic.
Trim levels start with the Dynamique model, featuring 16 inch alloy wheels, automatic parking brake, air conditioning, CD audio system and more. The Dynamique S model adds key less entry, climate control, auto headlights and wipers and more.
