The Twingo was first launched in 1993, but was only built as a left-hand drive model and not available in the UK. The latest model was launched in 2007, with more conservative and sleek styling compared with the quirky features of the original. One of the stand out features on the Twingo is the rear sliding seats, they can move by around a foot to give greater legroom to the rear passengers or to create a larger boot space. The new Twingo also carries over the centrally mounted instrument panel from the previous model, now with a large, clear digital display. Its main rivals are the Toyota Aygo, Volkswagen Fox and Kia Picanto
The Twingo is fitted with a 1.2 litre petrol engine, available as a 16 valve with 75 PS, or turbo charged with 100PS. All models are fitted with a five-speed manual gearbox. Trim levels start with the base level Extreme, then there is the Dynamique with air conditioning and top of the range is the GT model with sporty looks, 15 inch alloy wheels and the turbo charged engine.
