The Altea XL shares the sleek stylishness of the standard Altea but features a longer body with more spacious interior. It was launched in 2006. The Altea XL is still a five-seater but its extra space means it is much more comfortable and practical compared with rivals like the Ford Focus C-Max, Volkswagen Golf Plus and Peugeot 307 SW. Compared with the Altea, the XL offers 123 litres of extra space, meaning a boot size of 532 litres. The rear seats can slide and be folded down for more versatility.
The Altea XL offers the same highly capable engine range as the Altea, starting with the 1.6 litre petrol with 102 PS and the 2.0 litre TSI with an impressive 200 PS. Diesel engines include the 1.9 TDI and 2.0 litre TDI with 140 or 170 PS. Transmission is available as five or six-speed manual and five or six-speed semi-automatic DSG with twin clutches for a split second shift time.
There are two trim levels available, the base level Reference and the Stylance. Both models include air-conditioning, MP3 compatible CD player and electric windows as standard.
