The Roomster is an all new model to the Skoda lineup, it was released in 2006. It is designed to be like two rooms, the front 'driving room' to make you feel like you are in a hatchback and the rear 'living room' with a spacious feel and Varioflex adjustable seating. It is also available with floor mounted bicycle mounts to put a mountain bike on the back and a large panoramic sunroof. It's rivals in the so called leisure activity market are the Fiat Idea, Nissan Note and Citroen Berlingo Multispace. The Roomster scored top marks in the Euro NCAP crash test thanks to an array of safety features including ABS brakes, front and side airbags and dual rate brake booster.
Engine options start with the three-cylinder petrol 1.2 12v, then the four-cylinder 1.4 16v and the 1.6 16v at the top. The diesel range starts with the three-cylinder turbocharged 1.4 TDI PD with either 70 or 80 BHP, and the four-cylinder 1.9 TDI PD with 105 BHP. Transmission is available as five-speed manual or six-speed automatic Tiptronic.
Trim levels start with the base level Roomster 1, then the Roomster 2 and top level Roomster 3 with included 16 inch alloy wheels and parking sensors. 2007 saw the release of the new Scout trim level with rugged exterior, raised suspension and SUV styling.
