With the Superb, Skoda brought back one of their most relished names from history. The original Superb started production in 1934 and was Skoda's pre-war flagship model offering exceptional luxury. The Superb model line was relaunched in 2001 and 2008 saw an all new redesigned Superb released. In keeping with the Superb's luxurious past, the new version has features you normally wouldn't expect of a car in this price range. By far the most innovative feature is its boot lid; called the Twindoor it can used as a normal saloon boot in most situations, however if a larger load needs better access the user simply has to press the hatchback button to get the entire rear hatch to open. The Superb also excels with safety, its array of seven airbags, electronic stability and ABS which combine to give it a 5-star Euro NCAP crash test rating.
The Superb's engine range starts with the 125 BHP 1.4 TSI petrol, other petrol options are the 1.8 TSI and top of the range 3.6 litre V6 with 260 BHP. Diesel engines start with the 1.9 TDI PD, then the 2.0 TDI PD with 140 BHP and the new 2.0 TDI CR with 170 BHP and using VW's new efficient common rail engine. Transmission options available; the five and six speed manual, and VW's acclaimed DSG gearbox is available with six or seven gears and offering split-second gear changes.
Trim levels start with the base level S model, then there is the SE and top specification Elegance with climate control and 18 inch alloy wheels accompanying a large list of features.
