The Fortwo Cabriolet is based on the Fortwo Coupe. It was first launched in 1998 with the new second generation model being released in 2007. The Cabriolet uses the super strong Tridion safety cell meaning that the fabric folding roof and roof bars can be removed with no affect on safety. The closest competitors include the Vauxhall Tigra and Nissan Micra CC, but the Smart is much smaller and can still fit into a parking space side-on. Despite its small size, the Smart Fortwo cabrio can still comfortably seat two adults, and without two tiny seats in the back it has an impressive 340 litres of boot space.
Safety is not taken lightly at Smart as it is very important in such a small vehicle. The Fortwo is fitted with active safety features like ESP, ABS, Hydraulic Brake Assist, acceleration skid control
and driver and passenger airbags as standard. The Fortwo also has the unique Tridion safety cell which is ultra strong and dissipates crash energy away from the passengers.
The Smart Fortwo comes with a 1.0 litre three-cylinder engine, with a choice of 61 or 71bhp a turbo version is also available with 84 or 98bhp. The gearshift is clutchless on all variants, it is available as automatic, manual or F1 style paddle shift. The Smart also features an innovation called the Micro Hybrid Drive which uses a stop/start function to turn off the engine when stationary and during braking to lower fuel consumption. The MHD can yield fuel reductions as high as 29% in city environments.
Trim levels start with the Pure models, there is also the sporty Pulse and comfortable Passion featuring a powered soft top that be raised and lowered at any speed, as well as electric windows, climate control and alloy wheels.

There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
