The Fortwo Coupe was launched in 1998, originally called the city coupe the name changed when Smart introduced a four door 'forfour' model. The second generation Fortwo was launched in 2008, it is slightly larger than the previous model and offers better safety standards, more space and comfort as well as a redesigned gear change which improves on the previous model. The only similar car to rival the Fortwo is the soon to be released Toyota iQ.
Safety is not taken lightly at Smart as it is very important in such a small vehicle. The Fortwo is fitted with active safety features like ESP, ABS, Hydraulic Brake Assist, acceleration skid control
and driver and passenger airbags as standard. The Fortwo also has the unique Tridion safety cell which is ultra strong and dissipates crash energy away from the passengers.
The Smart Fortwo comes with a 1.0 litre three-cylinder engine, with a choice of 61 or 71bhp a turbo version is also available with 84 or 98bhp. The gearshift is clutchless on all variants, it is available as automatic, manual or F1 style paddle shift.
Trim levels start with the Pure model, then the sporty Pulse model and the comfortable Passion, fitted with electric windows, tinted panoramic sunroof and integrated sunblind, as well as climate control and rear luggage screen.

There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
