The Auris was launched by Toyota in 2007. It is designed to replace the Toyota Corolla model which was one of the most popular and regularly topped the JD Power consumer satisfaction polls during its lifetime. The new Auris is sold in the small family hatchback market, comes in 3 and 5 door variants and with its high build quality and features, pitches itself against rivals like the Volkswagen Golf and Alfa Romeo 147. The Auris has a useful selection of innovative storage solutions such as its dual opening glovebox and under seat tray and rear seats that can be adjusted in numerous ways to increase rear storage and give passengers maximum comfort. Engine options start with the 1.4 VVT-i engine, then the 1.6 Dual VVT-i and the soon to be released 1.33 Dual VVT-i Optimal Drive engine that aims to improve fuel economy whilst reducing emissions and saving you money on road tax. Diesel engines start with the 1.4 D-4D and move up to the 2.0 D-4D and the powerful 2.2 D-4D. Transmission is available as a manual or with the five-speed MultiMode which features F1-style shifting with paddle controls meaning you don't even have to take your hands off the wheel to change gear.
Trim levels start with the T2, then the TR, T3, SR, T Spirit and the sporty SR180 with lowered suspension, rear roof spoiler and 17 inch alloy wheels.
