The Toyota iQ is a city car first introduced at the 2008 Geneva Auto Show. Despite strong competition from rivals such as the Kia Picanto, Smart ForTwo Coupe and the Fiat Panda, the iQ has proved a popular model in the supermini sector and was awarded Japanese Car of the Year for 2008.
The iQ’s unique design emphasises its low fuel consumption, maneuverability, environmental friendliness and maximized interior space. Its clever front wheel differential design means its has a turning circle of just 3.9 metres and its electric outer door mirrors with built-in turning indicators are designed for those urban tight spots. Inside, the iQ’s geometric precision and natural shapes distinguish the iQ’s shape and interior detail. The clever multi-information display lets you know the time, temperature and remaining fuel as well as keeping you up-to-date with your average speed and fuel consumption.
Engine options include the 1.0 litre VVT-i petrol or 1.33 litre VVT-i petrol that emits an incredibly low 99 g/km. The revolutionary lightweight compact engines also include the Toyota Optimal Drive technology with its ingenious flat fuel tank that lightens the car’s overall body weight and maximizes efficiency.
Trim levels include the iQ, iQ2 and iQ3. The entry iQ trim includes 15" alloy wheels, air conditioning, leather steering wheel with audio controls and colour-keyed door mirrors and bumpers. The iQ2 trim includes climate control air conditioning, Smart Entry/Smart Start, rain sensing wipers and darkened bi-halogen headlamps. The top-of-the-range iQ3 trim includes 16’’ high gloss alloy wheels, Stop Start Technology, six-speed manual transmission and chrome finish wing mirrors.
