The Astra Estate, based on the hatchback model has been produced since 1980 and is now in its sixth generation being launched in 2004. The estate model has a longer wheelbase and body length than the hatchback model, offering a vast boot and improved interior space with better rear legroom. The vehicle is also offered with the Vectra's smart FlexOrganiser, enabling users to keep items in the boot in order. The main rivals are the Ford Focus estate and Renault Megane Sport Tourer, the Astra has some of the best interior quality in its class.
Engine options are the same as the five-door hatchback, with petrol engines starting with the 1.4i 16v, then the 1.6i 16v VVT, 1.6i Turbo and sporty 1.8i 16v VVT. Diesel options range from the 1.3CDTi to the 1.7CDTi and the 1.9CDTi. Transmission options include the automatic in 4 and 6-speed, the Easytronic 5-speed and manual gearbox's come in either five or six-speed.
Trim levels vary from the base level Life, then the Energy, Club, Design, SXi and sporty SRi, with alloy wheels and optional sports exterior pack.
