The new Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet was launched in 1998 drawing heavy inspiration from the exterior design of the original Beetle. Despite strong competition from rivals such as the Mitsubishi Colt Cabriolet, Fiat 500C and the Mini Convertible, the Beetle Cabriolet remains a popular choice amongst consumers, particularly with fans of the original Beetle.
The new Beetle Cabriolet retains the original Beetle’s iconic curves, combining retro looks with the latest technology. The electrically operated roof glides down and folds flat in just 13 seconds and for neatness, it can then be tucked under the tailored hood cover creating a striking impression. Inside, the Beetle Cabriolet’s blue instrument lighting with red needles add a dramatic finish to the interior, enhancing the car’s stylish and sporty appeal.
Under the bonnet, the Beetle Cabriolet offers a choice of five engines including four petrol and one diesel. Volkswagen’s Turbocharged Direct Injection (TDI) engines offer substantially increased performance with more torque and benefits from good fuel economy and lower emissions.
Trim levels include the Luna 1.4 75PS, Luna 1.6 102PS or the 1.9 TDI 105PS. The 1.9 TDI 105PS model comes with air conditioning, alarm with interior protection and remote central locking, electric hood and Radio/CD player with 10 speakers.
