History OF Volkswagen Cars

Volkswagen is Germany's biggest car manufacturer, and the third largest car producer in the world. Their iconic status is helped by their strong reputation for building reliable, quality cars. VW's long heritage started in 1933 with a car that evolved into the iconic Beetle. The original Beetle became the world’s bestselling car ever, selling more than 20 million worldwide. VW still make the Beetle to this day, with a new version released in 1998. The Volkswagen group has grown enormously since its early days and now owns a number of other brands such as Audi, Bugatti, Lamborghini and SEAT. VW also make one of the world’ most popular hatchbacks, the Golf. Its range in recent years has been expanded to include the Golf Estate, spacious Golf Plus, Jetta, convertible Eos and performance version, the Golf R32. New for 2008 is the re-released classic sport coupe, the Scirocco. With striking looks this new car is sure to be a best seller and future classic.

Volkswagen Range

Volkswagen's smaller cars are well regarded, with the Polo and Fox (Lupo like) setting standards for quality in the super mini and city car markets. The Polo Bluemotion is setting new standards in economy with it able to achieve over 70mpg and its low emissions enable it run road tax free in the UK. VW have also started to release Bluemotion versions of their other cars which have some of the best ratings for fuel efficiency and emissions in their respective classes.

In recent years VW have entered the 4x4 market, with its Touareg sharing technology with the Audi Q7 and its new Tiguan entering the small family SUV market. Another new model for VW is the sleek new Passat CC, a coupe version of the standard Passat. VW also have their large people carrier, the Sharan with 7 seats, and its smaller sibling, the Touran.
