The C70 was initially created in 1997 in coupe and convertible form to dispose of Volvo's boxy image. A completely redesigned new C70 was released in 2006, combining the coupe and convertible with one option, featuring a 3-piece retractable hardtop. The hardtop is operated at a touch of a button and which takes less than 30 seconds to complete. In line with all other Volvo's, the C70 features exceptional safety features including pyrotechnically charged roll-over hoops and a unique side impact air-bag solution. The C70’s main vehicle rivals in the competitive prestige convertible market are the Audi A4 Cabriolet, BMW 3 Series Convertible, Mercedes CLK Cabriolet and new VW Eos Coupe Cab with similar metal folding roof.
There is plenty of room in to accommodate four adults and the large boot space can accommodate a golf bag and clubs with the roof up or down.
The petrol engine options are the 2.4i or the sporty 2.5 T5 turbo engine. Diesel also comes in two variants, the 2.0D or the five cylinder D5, both offer competitive fuel economy. All models are offered with manual or automatic transmission, with a six-speed manual transmission offered on selected models. All vehicles have a high level of trim and equipment, with features such as RTI Navigation system and Information system provided as standard.
