The new Volvo XC60 is a brand new model from Swedish manufacturer Volvo. Released in Europe in late 08, the vehicle is a compact SUV or Sports Utility Vehicle designed to compete with the likes of the BMW X3, Audi Q5 and Landrover Freelander. The vehicle is one of the safest cars Volvo have ever produced and comes with all the safety features you would expect to find in a Volvo car, including their newest feature, City Safety which helps to avoid low speed impacts in traffic congestion. The ride quality is excellent on road, with minimal body roll, off-road the XC60 should be good too, as parts and technology are shared with the Landrover Freelander.
All models are currently AWD, but a front wheel drive only version will be released in 2009. Diesel engine options come with either six-speed manual or six-speed Geartronic Automatic transmission and are available as the D5 or 2.4D turbo diesel. Petrol engine choice is currently limited to the six-cylinder turbo T6 engine which is only available with the six-speed Geartronic automatic transmission.
Trim levels currently offered are the S, SE and SE Lux, with the latter getting more stylish instruments, larger alloy wheels, parking sensors, leather upholstery and a powered tailgate.
